What would you do with an outdoor living room?

Recently I was sitting outside on a covered deck listening to the birds, sipping a latte and enjoying a chat with my significant other.  It was then I realized just how much time those of us who live in the Northwest can enjoy the outdoors (as long as it’s covered)!  With a hoodie or warm jacket, it’s easy to extend living in the fresh air most months of the year.  With a portable fireplace, it just gets better!

It’s obvious the visionaries at Oakpointe Communities have had the same experience.  Their architectural team has found exciting ways to bring the outdoors into the home.  This happens through clever interruption of normal indoor spaces with access to a covered outdoor living room. Imagine an outdoor covered living space, sheltered from wind that you can access from the kitchen or great room.  Picture entertaining with your guests, flowing between the dining room and the covered patio.  The Japanese have lived this way for years, with a concept they call the “tsubo niwa,” a small garden space that is often tucked into a home’s living space to be enjoyed year ‘round.

If you’ve been longing for more time outdoors in the comfort of your new home, let me suggest you head outdoors as soon as Emerald Pointe is open and their outdoor living rooms are ready for a test sit.  What would you do with an outdoor living room.

I want to share some of the latest pictures at Emerald Pointe, visit our Facebook page at Oakpointe Communities. So many exciting things are happening! Landscaping is getting installed along the frontage of our community. The boulevard and our central park are really taking shape. Enjoy the Cascades for hiking, skiing, snow sports, fishing or hunting

Of course you are! Northwest folks are drawn to the outdoors, and they look for every opportunity to explore it. Whether you’re an avid sports person or just enjoy the fresh air, you’ll find that our new Emerald Pointe neighborhood abounds with recreation opportunities of all sorts. Some are right in the neighborhood, and others are nearby.

Right outside the front doors at Emerald Pointe are miles of sidewalks and trails located throughout the Sunrise master planned community. Walk, run or push a stroller.  Enjoy wide sidewalks and quiet streets.

At least eight parks in Puyallup offer everything from trails to wading pools, off-leash dog parks, ball fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, tennis courts, parking and restrooms.

For our golfers, the area offers courses for beginning players to experts. Choices include Sumner Meadows, Lipoma Firs, The Classic, JBLM Golf Course, Chambers Bay, Lake Spanaway & Fort Steilacoom, among others.

If skiing and snow sports are more your thing, check out what Crystal Mountain, White Pass or Alpental have to offer. The conditions this year have been terrific!

If we didn’t have these beautiful new homes to finish by Spring, I’d be out there myself right now enjoying my Emerald Pointe surroundings.

I’ve got lots more to tell you about Emerald Pointe, so please stay tuned as Oakpointe Communities unveils our exciting new plans.

And, if you currently live in the Puyallup area, let us know your favorite recreation spots!

Posted in Home Designs By Sean Johnsrud

We’ve begun the conversation about being ‘insync’ at Oakpointe Communities and want to share another insync idea: being insync with technology.

Oakpointe Communities is harnessing integrated technology for a more comfortable, more livable and much more fun home to live in. Wireless total home control is a standard feature in every Oakpointe home.

The benefits are extraordinary:

·          energy savings that lessen your footprint on the environment

·          added convenience to your daily living. Lighting, shades and temperatures are adjustable, in a particular room or throughout your home–at the touch of a button

·          create your own personal mood and ambiance, complementing and adding to your home’s décor

·          add cutting edge technology to your home. Your home will be able to tell you its temperature allowing you to set it from work, your hotel room, the ski slopes or anywhere with internet access via a tablet, smart phone or computer.

This technological edge is another added benefit Oakpointe Communities offers over other big box builders.  And you don’t have to spend extra to get it.

Share with us your ideas about what “Insync” features to help you control your new home’s systems would be most useful to you.

Let’s talk a little more about what we mean by ‘insync’ at Oakpointe Communities.  We knew the company, our products and our approach needed to be uniquely different.  Buyers are tired of the same old craftsman style boxes that all the production builders throw up.  We were determined to think outside the proverbial box.   What were the other guys not providing that we could?  That’s when insync was born.  It’s not difficult to know what people really want in a new home, it’s just that other builders haven’t cared enough to innovate new designs they really crave.  Did you know there are 184 days on average where it’s 60° degrees or more in our area?  Problem: over 150 days per year on average it rains.  Insync solution: Oakpointe Communities created covered outdoor living areas where people can enjoy the pleasant temperatures all year, even when it rains!   Stay tuned for more to come on being insync.

At Oakpointe Communities we’ve created new homes that are truly new. The term ‘insync’ concerns the environment, technology, life safety, and all things that make living a bit easier.  In short, insync is:

  • insync with nature:  sustainable building practices, bringing outdoor spaces in
  • insync with technology:  harnessing integrated technology for a more comfortable, more livable and much more fun home to live in
  • insync with safety: trustworthy construction, a gated community
  • insync with life:  sound design, energy efficiency, balanced form and function

The ‘insync’ notion guides how Oakpointe Communities views our environment, the approach we take when designing a new home and the communities we build them in.  It’s a focus and commitment to being different in ways that matter.

It ultimately starts with the home, of course.  At Emerald Pointe Oakpointe Communities has come up with plans that are open and flowing, suggesting, rather than dictating, how to live.  New features in our homes will bring value that is transparent and attractive.

We hope you’ll get insync with us as we unveil further details about these exciting new homes at Emerald Pointe by Oakpointe Communities.
